The owner's monthly note

A short monthly summary of visits can show an owner patterns over time, but it cannot explain why people came or what they decided.

What the note contains#

Each month the owner receives a short note summarising how many times the website was visited. The count comes from Cloudflare Web Analytics. This tool sets no cookies, so it does not follow a visitor from one day to the next in the way many advertising tools do. The note is meant to be read in a few minutes, not studied.

The purpose of the note is to give a simple sense of scale and direction. An owner can see whether visits went up or down compared with the month before. That is a modest piece of information, but it is useful when deciding whether the site is worth keeping up. It is a starting point for a question, not an answer to it.

What a count can show#

A visit count can show whether anyone is finding the site at all. If the number stays close to zero for several months, that suggests the site is not being seen, and the owner may want to look at how people are being pointed towards it. If the number changes after a change to the pages, it may be worth noting the date and watching the next few months.

Counts also show rough timing. An owner may notice that visits rise on certain days or after certain events in the neighbourhood. Patterns like these are only suggestions. They help an owner form a hypothesis, which can then be tested by simply watching what happens next.

What a count cannot show#

A visit count cannot tell an owner who the visitors were. It cannot say why they came, how long they stayed, which page they found most useful, or whether they went on to visit the shop. Because no cookies are set, the tool also cannot link one visit to another, so the count cannot be read as a count of separate people. The number describes page loads, not people.

It also cannot measure the quality of the site. A large count with confusing pages may mean less than a small count with pages that answer the questions visitors actually have. An owner should treat the monthly note as one small input, alongside feedback from customers who walk in and questions that staff hear across the counter.

Reading it sensibly#

A sensible way to use the note is to compare months against each other rather than to fixate on any single figure. One unusual month is rarely a reason to change anything. A steady trend over several months is more informative. Keeping a simple record of what was changed on the site, and when, makes the note easier to interpret later.

Thai rules limit how cannabis may be advertised, so check your plans with a lawyer. The monthly note is a tool for understanding a site's reach, and it should sit within whatever legal guidance the owner has received. DISPO, by SISO Labs, explains these tools in plain terms so that owners can decide for themselves what the numbers mean.
