Why previews stay out of search

A DISPO preview is kept out of search engines on purpose, and it waits for its owner to claim it before it can be found.

What noindex means#

When a page carries a noindex instruction, it asks search engines not to list that page in their results. The page still loads for anyone who has its address, and it still works as a normal website. The only thing the instruction asks is that search engines leave the page out of their index.

Each DISPO preview carries this instruction. A preview is a working draft of a shop website, and a draft should not appear in search results before its owner has looked at it, changed what needs changing, and decided it is ready. Keeping the preview out of search gives the owner room to check the content in private first.

Why the address matters#

A canonical address is the one address that a search engine should treat as the main version of a page. If the same content can be reached from more than one address, the canonical setting tells the search engine which address to prefer. This helps stop one page from being split across several addresses in search results.

A preview has its own working address. That address is a place to read and review the site, and it is not the address you want customers to remember. Thinking about which address is the main one is part of deciding how the site should be found, and it is a question worth settling before the site is made public.

Why a preview waits#

A preview stays out of search until its owner claims it. Claiming means the owner confirms that the shop is theirs and that they want the site to be found. Until that happens, the preview is simply a page that exists for the owner to read and check, and nobody else needs to find it.

This matters for a shop because the information on a website is a public statement about the business. The branch address, the description and the other details should all be correct before the wider world sees them. Waiting lets you review everything first, so that a listing is not published before it is ready.

Free to keep, free to move#

A DISPO preview is free and stays free at its preview address. The site is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which serves static sites, so there are no hosting fees for the preview. You can take your time to decide whether the website suits your shop.

If you decide to go further, you can move the site to your own domain. Thai rules limit how cannabis may be advertised, so check your plans with a lawyer.
