Where the data comes from#
The DISPO directory lists 1,354 Bangkok shops. Every entry is built from public Google Maps data. For each shop we record the name, the area, the nearest station, the walking time to that station, the Maps link and the shop's website.
We build the directory only from what is shown on public Google Maps listings. The starting point is information that anyone can look up on a map.
How directions are worked out#
Each shop's directions start from the nearest BTS, MRT or Airport Rail Link station. We measure the straight-line distance from the shop to that station on the map. We then multiply that distance by 1.3, to allow for streets that are not straight, and divide the result by a walking pace of 75 metres a minute.
The walking time is an estimate, not a timed walk. It is a rough guide based on map data, and the real time may be longer or shorter.
Correcting or removing a listing#
A shop can ask us to correct any detail in its entry, or to remove the entry altogether. If the name, area, station or walking time is wrong, tell us what it should be and we will update the listing. If you would rather not be listed, ask and we will take the entry down.
Thai rules limit how cannabis may be advertised, so check your plans with a lawyer. Nothing on this page is legal advice, and an owner should not treat it as a substitute for professional advice on what a shop can publish.
What this means for your shop#
A listing on a map shows where a shop is, but a visitor often needs more than a pin to find the door. A website can give clear directions from the nearest station, with a walking time, so that a visitor knows which way to turn when they arrive. The directory uses the same kind of station and walking information.
Whether a website is worth having is your decision. Our aim here is to show how the directory is made, so that you can judge its accuracy for your own shop and ask for a change if it is wrong.
