Why holidays cause confusion#
Public holidays often change when a shop opens. The shop may close for the day, open later, or keep shorter hours than usual. Customers do not always know this in advance. They check the first place they find, and that is often a map listing or a website.
If the website says one thing and the map listing says another, the customer has no clear answer. They may travel to a closed shop, or they may decide not to travel at all. Neither outcome helps the shop. The problem is not the holiday itself but the mismatch between two sources that a customer reasonably expects to agree.
Keeping hours in step#
The simplest habit is to decide the holiday hours once, then update every place they appear on the same day. That usually means the website, the Google Maps listing, and any other directory where the shop is listed. Write the dates down in one place, so the same information is copied everywhere rather than typed again from memory.
A useful check is to read the public listings after making a change. Look at the hours shown on the map and on the site, and confirm that both show the same open or closed status for the holiday. Repeat this check before each major holiday, because a change made months earlier is easy to forget.
What the site shows#
Every site built with DISPO shows opening hours and whether the shop is open now. When the hours on the site are kept current, a visitor can see at a glance whether the shop is open at the moment they look. This is the main way a website helps a customer plan a visit around a holiday.
Because the open-now status depends on the hours entered, the accuracy of the site depends on the owner keeping those hours correct. The site can only show what it has been told. An owner who updates special hours promptly gives customers a reliable answer, and one who forgets gives them a wrong one.
Rules and checking#
Thai rules limit how cannabis may be advertised, so check your plans with a lawyer. Opening hours are a plain fact, but how and where you present them is a question for a qualified adviser rather than for this post.
This article describes how opening hours work on a website in general. It is not legal advice. When in doubt about what is permitted, speak to a lawyer who knows the current rules in Thailand.
