Why security matters for a small site#

Every website faces some risk, even a small one with a single page. Visitors expect the address they type to lead to the real site and not to a copy built to mislead them. A shop owner should understand the basic protections before deciding whether a website suits the business.

Security is easier to manage when a site does less. Many attacks aim at logins, admin panels, and databases that hold personal records. A site with fewer of these parts has fewer places where trouble can start.

HTTPS and encryption in transit#

HTTPS is the secure form of a web address, usually shown with a padlock in the browser. It means the connection between a visitor's device and the site is encrypted, so someone on the same network cannot easily read or alter what is sent. Every DISPO preview is hosted on Cloudflare Pages, which serves static sites, and an owner can move a site to their own domain.

An owner should still check the address bar when visiting any site, and should avoid sharing links that begin with plain http. Taking a moment to confirm the address is a habit that protects both the owner and every visitor who trusts the page.

No logins, so no stolen logins#

Many website break-ins start with passwords. Attackers try common passwords, reuse leaked credentials, or trick staff into revealing them. A site with no customer accounts and no shopper login gives those attacks nothing to aim at. Visitors read pages, and the owner keeps control of the content.

A static site is built from fixed files rather than a live database. There is no customer list stored on the site for someone to copy. Where a site collects a message or an enquiry, the owner should decide what is kept and for how long, and should ask only for what is truly needed.

Privacy notices and age checks#

Every DISPO site includes an age gate for visitors aged 20 and over, a PDPA privacy notice, legal pages, and a credits page that names the sources of photos and map data. These pages help the owner explain how information is handled and where content came from.

Thai rules limit how cannabis may be advertised, so check your plans with a lawyer. An age gate and legal pages are a useful start, but they are not a complete answer on their own, and no template should be treated as legal advice.
