What gets counted#

When someone opens a web page, the page loads and a small piece of code can record that a visit happened. Cloudflare Web Analytics is the counting tool used here. Its job is to tell you how many visits your site received over a given period.

Most small shop owners want simple answers. How many people looked at the site this month? Did the number change after you shared a link? Counting visits is a direct way to find out, and the figures are meant to be read without special training.

Why no cookies matter#

Many websites place cookies in a visitor's browser. A cookie is a small file that lets a site recognise the same browser on later visits, and it is often used to follow people from page to page or across other sites. Cloudflare Web Analytics sets no cookies for this counting, so it does not need to store anything on the visitor's device to count a visit.

For a shop owner this is a practical point. There is no cookie banner to design around, and visitors are not asked to accept tracking just to read a page. The count still tells you how much the site is being used, which is the information most small shops need from it.

The monthly note#

You do not need to log in to a dashboard each week to know how the site is doing. Each month you receive a short note with the visit numbers. The note is meant to be read in a few minutes, so you can see whether the site is being found and decide whether anything needs changing.

If the numbers are low, the note gives you a starting point rather than a verdict. It may prompt you to look at how your pages are worded, or to think about where people are finding the site. A small amount of information, read regularly, is usually more useful than a large amount that is never looked at.

Limits and rules to check#

Counting visits is not the same as knowing who a person is or what they intended. The numbers show that a page was opened, not why, and they cannot tell you how many of those visits turned into a conversation or a sale. Treat the figures as a guide to how the site is used, not as a complete measure of the shop's business.

Thai rules limit how cannabis may be advertised, so check your plans with a lawyer. DISPO can explain how the counting works, but it does not give legal advice, so please take that question to a lawyer before deciding what your site should say or show.
